Textile designer Frances Ronaldson and former fashion buyer Caroline Williams launched the Somerset Souk to celebrate the art of the maker and it is a culmination of their many years of working with India and within the design and buying world.
The Souk is an eclectic take on art and design with beautiful products sourced on their travels, many designed and made exclusively for the Somerset Souk.
Frances studied print design at St Martinʼs School of Art and has created textiles for many fashion designers and worked with Colfax and Fowler, Grahame and Green and more recently in charge of textiles at Contemporary Applied Arts in London. Frances will be bringing her expertise to Somerset Souk along with her passion for Indian craft techniques and decorative textiles.
As a fashion buyer Caroline is credited with being amongst the first to bring to the UK acclaimed Indian designers such as Rajesh Pratap Singh and Namrata Joshipura and has set up and managed her own home design stores both here in Somerset and Parsons Green in London. Caroline studied under renowned Magnum photographer, David Hurn and then turned her visual skills towards creating dramatic and unusual interiors.
